Well, I've finally caught up in my CM-marathon... wow, what a ride, I can tell you. Okay, and now my mind's gone completely into speculation-mode concerning "100" and the end of Foyet.

So, what's the situation right now? Morgan's in charge, albeit temporarily - although, I agree with Rossi that it'll be hard for him to step down again. But then again, why should he? Just because it's some kind of deal he has with Hotch? Who's to say that TPTB at the FBI would even agree to Hotch's return? (Not to mention that I love Morgan and Hotch's roles being reversed, such as at the end of 5x06... Couldn't help smile myself at that.)

So, let's speculate that Morgan'll remain Unit Chief... how can that happen without Hotch either dying or resigning? I refuse to think that Hotch'll leave the series. He simply can't. I say so, therefore it can't happen. *g*

So, what else could prevent him from returning to his position? What about having Foyet kill or incapacitate Haley and therefore leaving Hotchner a single parent? I'd say that would put quite a bit of a spin onto his life and not leave much room for the extra time spent on bureaucracy and politics. And actually, I think that would put a new layer on his character and shift his focus from singleminded pursuit back to his son. I mean, Jack was around for the entire series, JJ has her baby - but they never featured much in the stories or in the way the characters juggle their responsibilities. Back then, both had significant others caring for the children. Therefore, putting the sole responsibility for Jack on Hotch would mean that he'd have to change his way of living and his way of dealing with his job enormously. So far, the characters themselves were never quite the highlight of the show, it focusing more on the unsubs and the psychology behind their crimes. I don't want that to change and I don't think Aaron's being a single-parent would influence that too much, honestly. It would offer them, at the least, a chance of keeping Morgan in charge without damaging Hotch or putting a strain on the team.

I'd say, go for it - Foyet's not going to hurt Aaron directly again (been there, done that in that series already), I highly doubt that anything's going to happen to Jack. But Haley's no longer important to Aaron's development. He got used to the idea of being divorced, there's little to no hope for reconciliation - and I'd say she couldn't have been colder to him in the hospital, anyway... I mean, even divorced and in danger myself, I'd have acted a bit warmer towards my ex-husband, touching him, reassuring *myself* of his well-being... So, no one (but Jack) would really miss her anyway. And CM isn't a series of happy endings. Something'll have to give - and I'd rather it be her than Aaron.

Okay, on to Foyet's death (because I don't think he'll be captured). I so hope it won't be Hotch who kills him other than in self-defense or in defense of his family. I don't want to see him go down the path of the self-proclaimed avenger - I realize he's got enough reasons to hate Foyet and want to kill him. But I actually want to see Hotch looking into the abyss but making a conscious decision not to kill Foyet out of a need for revenge. He's regained much of his calm since 5x02 and I don't want him to lose it again.

And will we ever learn what really happened in Hotch's appartment the night he got stabbed? 5x01 so much alluded to rape - but was it just a taunt of Foyet's or did he really go through with it? Judging from the recent episodes, Hotch surely suffers psychologically from the attack, but he didn't display any suspicious signs of a sexual assault, and the doctor in 5x01 would have mentioned anything like that I'd say. But they kept it vague... But then again, TPTB on CM apparently like to make allusions but not follow through (or at least only mention on the sidelines) with the consequences. Just think back to Reid's addiction - could have been a major topic, but got dropped after a couple of episodes and only got mentioned in passing once or twice ever since. Or Hotch's loss of hearing... after 2 episodes he was back on top of his game. Etc.

Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to the next episodes. (And looking for something else to occupy myself with in the times between episodes. *g*)
