First Man - 7

Enjoyed it quite a lot, the whole emotional arc with the daughter's death, culminating with the moon landing. Could have used some more cutting as it dragged on a bit in the middle.

The Martian - 8.5

Didn't believe that watching a guy grow potatoes could be quite so fascinating. But just the right mixture of drama, comedy.

Star Wars - Rogue One - 9

Don't remember if I reviewed this one here before (and can't be bothered to check right now)... but this one's pretty much the perfect movie set in the SW-movie that doesn't deal with the force. Likeable characters, a hopeless situation, a bitter-sweet ending... and a couple of absolute killer-scenes such as the Death Star covering Jedha's sun or the ending when Vader's lightsabre is activated in the dark corridor. I get the shivers just thinking about this. Tarkin was rendered quite well, could have done without Leia, though... because why should she be in this fight? This movie's right up with Empire in my book.

Star Wars VIII - The Last Jedi - 2

Opinion is quite split on this one, and I'm firmly in the camp of those who say WTF? Floating Leia? Omnipotent Rey? The whole plot around Finn and in-movie fangirl Rose which's is meagre ringback to Phantom Menace and is made irrelevant by Rose intercepting Finn's would-be sacrifice in the end. And let's not talk about Luke. I like Luke, and I think Hamill's doing his best work here... but remember when he single-handedly decided the battle of Endor by surrendering to Vader? To lay down his sword? By then, he'd already learned that love and forgiveness can outweigh evil - and we're to believe that a mere dream brings him with his sword drawn to the bedroom of his nephew (which has creepy connotations BTW)? Why not shed some more light on Ben's fall to evil? No, instead we get even more creepy hallucinations with Rey and Snart's pretty much killed off right before things get interesting. The less said about Poe and this stupid show of female power (I mean: are women only strong when men proove stupid? Why not work together?), the better.

So: for IX... are we to think that Ben's still redeemable? A man who killed his father, the beloved Han Solo? He outdid his father on personal grievances. I'm going to watch IX, simply because I've seen the first 2 parts of this trilogy - but my expectations are quite low.

I also think that IX will be the crucible for the SW-verse, as it can't be a coincidence that the movie after TLJ, a movie about said beloved Han Solo, tanked by SW-standards. (But I'm still holding hope for a Kenobi movie).

Sully - 7.5

about the events that led to the emergency landing in the Hudson River back in Jan of 2009. Good.

The Post - 7

about the publication of the Pentagon papers, the pressure not to publish them and the first female editor of a major newspaper who was faced with this question. Good movie about freedom of the press - not irrelevant in this day and age.
